The University of Nebraska Omaha Multicultural Affairs' Summer Scholars Program 2011: Preparing high schoolers for college success

Each summer a group of energetic, talented, college-bound high school seniors flock to the UNO campus for a five-week taste of college life. The Summer Scholars program includes a college prep seminar, a residential week in Scott Hall and enrollment in a 3-credit college course. In addition, participants spend plenty of time bonding with other students from schools across the Metro area through study groups, team-building activities and trips to the high ropes course at Camp Carol Joy Holling in Ashland, Nebraska. This year's group of 43 Summer Scholars is outstanding. They arrived at UNO with a sincere desire to learn and grow - as individuals and as a group. Each student will be posting a series of blogs this summer in order to reflect upon their learning and share their Summer Scholars experience with the larger community. We hope that you will be inspired by the photos and essays posted here. Enjoy!
